Caution Hot + Insane Chicken Challenge (Maginhawa Street Food Trip 2)

This food trip is all about hot and spicy food in Maginhawa Street and we took it to the extreme. First off, we went to Caution Hot and got our spicy noodles fix. You get to choose your meat, broth, noodles, and level of spiciness. I had pork-Szechuan-egg noodles in 2nd degree burn. It also has mushrooms, greens, and fried egg in it. 2nd degree is tolerable and I think I can handle til 3rd degree burn. Thumbs up also to the Kuchay-Pork dumplings. I like it dipped in the soy sauce + chili sauce mix rather than the black vinegar. Yum!

Next stop was at 150 Maginhawa Food Park where we had 1lb of buffalo wings with INSANE level of heat…the hottest. We also had 1lb of chicken wings in WILD level of spiciness just in case we chicken out, literally and figuratively. It is indeed insane! My mouth was on fire!!! SAM’s Vanilla Caramel shake helped dilute the painful heat in my mouth. Whewwww! With 4 wings left on the table…I guess food wins in this challenge.

Going Crazy Over Unli Meat! Samgyupsalamat Experience

The “Saturday Group” wanted to try this restaurant, Samgyupsalamat, many have been raving about. Though we had to wait for almost 2 hours to be seated, I’d say it is totally worth it.

Customer service is superb! The staff was courteous and attentive. Our orders came out quickly and side dishes were replenished real fast. We had unlimited pork and beef for P499 per person. You can choose from 5 kinds of pork and 9 kinds of beef. It also includes unlimited banchan (side dishes), rice, and soup. The food is good! I liked the kimchi and the scallion salad with sesame oil the most. The meat is of good quality and flavorful. I lost count of how many plates we had that night!

Overall, I’d say that our experience is excellent and I recommend you try it!

TIPS:

1. The afternoon/dinner buffet starts at 3pm. Make sure you place your name in the waiting list. Please allot about an hour waiting time to be seated. They close at 2am.

2. You can order a maximum of 2 plates at a time. Once consumed, then you can order the next batch.

3. Same unlimited course should be chosen per table. Choose if you’ll go all pork or have pork and beef. Damay damay ito! Walang titiwalag.

Cheese Overload! Nachos ala Bomba!

Here’s a treat…Gooey grilled cheese with salsa and refried beans on your nachos! That is some awesome cheesy goodness! My lactose intolerant self couldn’t help but get a taste of this bomba. I also had roasted chicken with burrito rice and triple mac and cheese. Chicken is juicy and delicious as well as the rice. The triple mac and cheese needs a little ooomph as it is bland. Oh, the mango iced tea is good too! Visit La Carnita and have a taste of this ooohlala bomba.

It is great to watch a different kind of show where music, movements, and colorful puppets tell stories without the use of words. Children and adults enjoyed watching the performance of Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas.

Flaming Moo Grilled Burgers – Novaliches

Hi there! I’m starting my year right by updating my blog. Cheers to more food trips and travel adventures this 2016!

I’d like to thank my sidekick, Carla, who is easy to drag on a food trip. Out of the countless lists of food we like, it is meat that stands out – burger, steak, kebab, anything meat. She has been telling me about this food truck along Quirino Hway (it is walking distance from Robinsons Mall Fairview going to Zabarte) and it was last December when we had the chance to check it out.

We arrived at Flaming Moo Grilled Burgers around 7pm and the place was starting to get busy with 3 tables occupied. It’s interesting to watch how food is prepared in such a compact space

Carla had the Classic Moo burger (Php65). It’s a single patty burger with tomato, lettuce, cucumber, and onion.

I had the Moo Moo Burger (Php100). It’s a juicy burger loaded with TLC, bacon, cheese, caramelized onion and mushroom, and topped with cheese sauce.

DSC_0028We also had french fries (Php25) and Raspberry Iced Tea (Php25). Yes, it’s that affordable. The burgers were good, tasty, and juicy. They don’t skimp on the quality of the ingredients. Bonus: mayo, mustard, ketchup (no extra charge)

Service was fast and done with a smile. 🙂

Flaming Moo is a simple and unpretentious food truck to get affordable and decent meals. We have yet to try the other burgers on the menu and the sausages too. We definitely have to visit soon.

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast- Mandaluyong

We were all smiles when my friend Malou and I found out about this hidden ‘carinderia’ type restaurant in Mandaluyong that serves budget friendly, gourmet style meals. They are open 24/7 and that means you get to order breakfast meals at anytime of the day. What’s interesting is, you can choose whatever is in the menu, as the name itself says Freestyle.

We had French Toast with Bacon and Egg (Php 90). As it is a usual breakfast fare, there’s nothing special about the taste but it is the way how the food is presented that makes a difference. I like the crispiness of the bacon and the creamy and fluffy scrambled egg. The serving of the maple syrup is generous.

The Honey Garlic Chicken (Php 90) came with Tomato Pesto and Garlic Rice. The chicken is crunchy and tasted okay.I just find it too sweet. Good thing there’s the tomato with drizzle of pesto sauce to balance the taste.

To cap our meal, we had Deep Fried Oreos (Php40). Crunchy coating + Oreos = the bomb!

I heard they’re opening 2 branches soon, one in Marikina and the other in Kapitolyo, Pasig and it’s just their 2nd year in the business. Good job, guys! Will go back to try the pancakes next time. Two claps for Kanto Freestyle Breakfast.
